In 2000 Carolyn and her former partner were hiking a year round stream in Patagonia when they discovered some small blue stones in the water. That discovery led to filing mining claims for turquoise and then to creating jewelry around the turquoise that they mined for relaxation and enjoyment. Their artistic expressions grew to include other media.
